"Witness" and "Carbomb" at the Puffin Room in Manhattan

Almost four years ago I began trying to express myself about war, with the wars that America was engaging in at the forefront of my mind. I looked to the ancient cultures of Mesopotamia to try to understand the history of Iraq and it's people. I found the beginnings of written language, the birth of cities, the earliest codification of law, and the oldest archeological remains of a wheel. As it turns out this is not just Iraqi history but human history.
After a year of working on this series, which I call "Where the Wheel Was Born", I began to exhibit it. First in Ithaca,NY then Syracuse and Toronto, Manchester, VT, Washington D.C., and in Nyack, NY. Now I have the opportunity to exhibit "Witness", the very first piece I made in the series, and "Carbomb" in Manhattan at the Puffin Room. The Puffin Room is a gallery space in SoHo sponsored by the Puffin Foundation which is committed to "continuing the dialogue between art and the lives of ordinary people.". That is an important concept to me. I want my work to provoke dialogue and to reach "ordinary people". I think it will. Being in a public space in New York City allows lots of people to see and feel this work. That is my goal.
I hope you can join me for the opening reception if you are in the area. If not, I hope you will be able to check out the show during the month that it will be up. The work will be on display September 20th through October 26th. The opening is from 6-8pm on Saturday the 20th. The gallery hours are Thurs through Sun noon to 6PM. The Puffin Room is at 435 Broome St. (between Broadway and Crosby).
Thanks you to all of you who have helped me find audiences for my work, all of you who have come to my previous exhibits, and all of you who get it.
Yours Sincerely,
Annemarie Zwack
